Background & Purpose: Today, many demographic and sociological changes have occurred, such as the increase in the employment of couples, long working hours, the complexity of work environment technologies, and the lack of labor in defense organizations. This issue causes the imbalance of multiple roles of people in their lives. The ability to balance work and life provides a favorable environment for improving health and improving work performance. Based on this, in the present research, the design of work-life balance strategies in defense organizations is discussed.
Methodology: This study is an applied research that was conducted qualitatively using thematic analysis method. A semi-structured interview with defense experts was used to collect data. Interviews with 15 experts in the field of defense were conducted in a targeted manner up to the stage of theoretical saturation and data analysis was conducted in three stages of extracting basic, organizing and inclusive concepts.
Findings: The final pattern of research in 92 basic themes, 27 organizing themes including providing a calm work environment, applying new technologies in the organization, appropriate design of work, workload according to the ability of employees, support for commanders and managers, support for employees, time flexibility, flexibility place, planning in implementing flexibility programs, granting leave based on welfare programs, paying attention to employees' health, monitoring employees' health programs, providing facilities for treatment, providing sports facilities for employees and their families, providing recreational facilities for employees and their families, providing facilities for children's education, organization facilities for taking care of employees' children, employees' free time programs, family emotional support, family support, support of relatives, management of family expectations, stress control, attention to spirituality in life, time management, responsibility and participation in Social affairs were organized.
Conclusion: Creating a work-life balance can lead to the promotion of organizational health and personal achievements for employees. Using the strategies of the current research, if it is operationally established in the statistical community, will be the driver of the results mentioned.
